Mark Labbe and I have become great friends and hybridizing buddies and we belong and met at the Connecticut Daylily Society (CDS).
A few years back, I encouraged Mark to place some seedlings in my garden so that they could be observed for the 2015 Region 4 Convention hosted by CDS. I was one of the tour gardens and I did so want the world, or at least Region 4, to see the splendors of Mark’s hybridizing efforts.
Mark lives in East Hampton, CT, zone 6 and his plants have performed beautifully here in my garden, zone 5. All of Mark Labbe’s seedlings have braved the elements in my garden and his intros and seedlings are hardy to -28 below zero with snow cover and -13 below zero with an inch of snow cover.
There were about 150 people that came through Knoll Cottage for the Regional on July 18, 2015 and there were many daylily enthusiasts who admired Mark’s seedlings.
